My Workspace Right Now

For no particular reason:

Shiney shiney wallpaper. Mind you, you should check out the polystyrene ceiling tiles…

Currently on my desk there is:

A pair of Big Butt Baby Pants sized 0-3 months, in a great brown cord with little teal apples on them, which FB keeps telling everyone is ‘for the baby!’ He’s not wrong. (They needed the elastic putting in them, which I did last night. TICK!)

Some Oh Baby Baby Booties in Oxford Kitchen Yarns test dyed yarn – also for no2.

A box full of Bendy Rope People (scroll down) which were/still are going to be christmas presents for various bigger than FB people in our lives. (I am starting to feel that I bit off more then a could chew with that one. That may well fall by the wayside.)

A pile of lovely wool felt from Oliver Twists (who sadly don’t have a website.)

and My new BIG pin cushion, because I got sick of putting pins back into a tiny box.

My ‘To Do before the baby comes’ list is now split into three, rated by priority.

“Bah, bah Black Sheep, have you any Wool? No, no, no, no, no, no, no!”*

*This was the nursery rhymes’ reinvention by FB this week. 😉

The Shop is now closed for my maternity leave.

HOWEVER – as promise, if you are in Oxford you can still buy Oxford Kitchen Yarns at Darn it and Stitch, on Blue Boar Street. (As I’ve said before, if you’re in any way crafty and you’re in Oxford you should head there anyway since it’s a treasure trove of wonderful, wonderful things.)

What is left of my stock is looking quite sad and sparse, so I’m going to have to build up some stock before I re-open the shop in a couple of months or so. Obviously I’ll keep you up to date with what’s happening with that here on the blog, and via Twitter.

35 Weeks

I feel like I’ve suddenly woken up and yelled ‘oh heck! I’m having a baby at some point in the next 7 weeks!’

Mainly this is because FB was a good week late, and even then was induced rather than chose to come out of his own accord. (One day, maybe I’ll write about that. I certainly have a lot to say. But not today.) So for much of the pregnancy I’ve been sure that this baby will be late.

And now I’m not so sure. And I’m rushing around trying to get everything done that needs to be done before everything kicks off. (Easier said than done, since these days FB is more unlikely to nap that likely to.)

The long and the short of it: The shop is closing for my maternity leave as of tomorrow evening (15th) UK time. Darn it and Stitch are getting another delivery of Oxford Kitchen Yarns (including some colours that you can’t get in the online shop), so you will still be able to get some yarn there for a bit. Hopefully the shop will open again early December, and will start getting new stock in the new year. (I’ll keep you informed.)

Given that Oxford Kitchen Yarns really is just me, and it’s hard to know what’s going to happen, or how this next phase of my life is going to work, but Oxford Kitchen Yarns will still be here, I’ll still be dyeing yarn – because I love it. And it really works for me.

In the meantime I’ll post here when I can – probably a bit more randomly and sporadically in the next few weeks – but I’ve got lots to show you. It’s going to be good. 🙂
